Guide to Classic Cartoons
Growing up everyone had their favourite cartoon, whether you loved Dangermouse, Bagpuss or Mr Benn, they are some of the most enduring of our childhood memories. There were theme tunes you can still sing with glee, ('Cities of Gold' anyone? )and vociferous debates taking place in pubs at this very moment over whether they got home in Dungeons and Dragons and what was the name of Jamie's dog in Jamie and the Magic Torch. There were so many great 80's Cartoons especially.
The chance to relieve these is now a mere 'add to cart' click away, and here's a few reminders of some of the most popular anyway...
He-Man

Another classic 80's cartoon. Adam's day job is being prince. Not the worst job in the world, and to add to that he can transform himself into a fighting force to be reckoned with, using the 'Power of Greyskull' Oh and his Cat transforms too. Adventures and battles ensue against the evil Skeletor. A staple of the cartoon diet of any 80's child, and action figure battles consequently raged across the lands playgrounds...

Mr Benn
Why does this man need to visit a costume shop so often? I never understood; mind you it wasn't a premise i questioned as a child. Anyhow, given the adventures that he ended up having each time, it was hardly surprising he kept going back. A classic
70's cartoon. Great Fun!

Dungeons and Dragons
So you know how it starts. The kids get on the fairground ride and suddenly find themselves in the realm of the Dungeon Master. Each week they are trying to find their way home and battling the evil Venger. But what do they do when they get the chance.... they end up going back for the bloody Unicorn.

Dogtanian
Growing up i think this was my favourite 80's cartoon....
All for one and one for all, muskethounds are always ready...
A magical cartoon and a good history lesson to boot. I still fondly remember the opening sequence as he slices the apple...
The first episodes explains how Dogtanian goes to Paris from his home village and he adventures snowball from there.

Dangermouse
Undoubtedly an all-time classic. Written as much for adults as for kids and brilliantly voiced by David Jason and Terry Jones. As England's superspy mouse, battling the evil Baron Greenback assisted willingly as always by his trusty sidekick Penfold.

Jamie and The Magic Torch

I just loved the Jamie and the magic torch theme music.
This programme had a premise i would have loved to be real as a kid. Once your parents have gone to bed, you get out a magic torch and journey to the magical land of Cuckoo Land. With his dog, Wordsworth Jamie had many adventures in the slightly trippy world with suitably weird and wonderful characters.
